The following is a conversation that Noman had with Tamika Berk Home and Community Services supervisior concerning his services both at the ATF(Adult Training Facility) and with Home and Community Services.
TB: "How long have you received wavier services?"
Norman: " It will be about 11 years I think."
TB: " How long have you had ATF services?"
Norman: "I started in 1976."
TB: "What type of things do you like about the ATF?"
Norman: I like talking to everybody. I like helping some of the (other) individuals.
TB: What have you learned at the Arc?
Norman: About being more independent riding my (electric) wheelchair. (assistance arranging the purchase and training on the use were done through the Arc) About money, about learning how to read and much more.
TB: What do you like about you home services?
Norman: I like going out ( in the community). I like going to the mall and buying my own stuff by myself. I think that helps me a lot. (you know what i mean) taking me to see Tina Turner. (and) my van (obtained through Arc fund raising) makes it easier on my body(I can stay in my chair)to get around. However I don't think a relative should work with a relative.
