What You’ll Do
As a Residential Program Specialist, you will be both a leader and mentor, responsible for creating a healthy, respectful, and engaging home environment while supporting and guiding staff.
You will:
- Lead, supervise, and support residential staff with a focus on communication, accountability, and professional growth
- Foster a positive team culture where staff feel heard, supported, and confident in their work
- Create and maintain a safe, welcoming, and typical home for individuals with intellectual disabilities
- Oversee all aspects of program operations, including staffing, scheduling, physical site oversight, and documentation
- Ensure health, safety, and welfare needs are consistently met (medication oversight, fire drills, cleanliness, medical appointments, required trainings, etc.)
- Implement and monitor individual support plans, behavior support plans, and social-emotional/environmental supports
- Coach, mentor, and evaluate staff through scheduling support, timesheet review, performance feedback, and training
- Ensure compliance with licensing requirements and all federal, state, and local regulations
- Support individuals in building independence, making choices, and living meaningful, dignified lives with valued social roles (friend, neighbor, employee, student)
- Provide direct support as needed based on program needs
- Participate in an on-call rotation
- Serve as a role model for Arc, Fayette’s mission, values, and professional standards
What We’re Looking For
We are seeking someone who brings strong interpersonal skills, leadership maturity, and a people-centered mindset.
Education & Experience (one of the following):
- Bachelor’s degree and related experience
- Associate’s degree (or 60 credit hours) with at least one year of related experience
- High School Diploma with at least two years of related experience
Required Qualifications:
- Demonstrated supervisory or leadership experience
- Strong communication skills with the ability to give clear direction, feedback, and support
- Ability to build rapport and maintain professional relationships with staff, individuals, and families
- Sound judgment, emotional intelligence, and the ability to navigate difficult conversations
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to pass all required federal and state clearances and physical
- Completion of required trainings within designated timeframes (including First Aid and CPR)
