The Arc Fayette at the Disability Awareness Summit
On March 18, 2025, The Arc Fayette had the honor of participating in the IU1 Disability Awareness Summit at PennWest University California. This event provided an opportunity to engage with students, introduce them to careers in disability services, highlighting the importance of service providers in empowering individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).
Engaging the Next Generation
A key focus of the summit was connecting with youth who may one day choose careers dedicated to supporting individuals with disabilities. Through an Informational Session, The Arc Fayette engaged with students, sharing insights into how its services enhance the lives of individuals with IDD and their families. Staff answered questions about career paths in the field, and the skills and training required to excel in these vital roles. Students also had the chance to explore real-world applications of disability services, learning about the day-to-day responsibilities of professionals working in this field. The interactive nature of the summit allowed students to not only hear about these careers but also engage in meaningful discussions with professionals, further deepening their understanding of the field.
By participating in events like the Disability Awareness Summit, The Arc Fayette continues its commitment to advocating for individuals with disabilities while fostering the next generation of professionals dedicated to this vital work. The organization remains focused on educating, inspiring, and supporting future leaders in the field, ensuring that individuals with IDD receive the highest quality care and opportunities for a fulfilling life.
