Supporting Early Childhood Development: CDC Resources

CDC Milestones Chart

Every child grows and develops at their own pace, but knowing what milestones to expect—and when—can make a significant difference in identifying potential developmental delays early. To support this, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) created the “Learn the Signs. Act Early.” initiative: to equip parents, caregivers, and professionals with the tools they need to monitor developmental progress.

This nationally recognized program offers a wealth of free, easy-to-use resources to help families track milestones in areas such as speech, movement, social behavior, cognitive development and more. Through milestone checklists, tip sheets, and engaging activities, the CDC encourages families to become proactive partners in their child’s growth journey.

What makes this initiative especially powerful is its emphasis on early action. If developmental delays are noticed, early intervention can significantly improve a child’s outcomes in school and in life. Recognizing the signs early gives families more time, more options, and more support.
