Celebrating Inclusive Employment

October was National Disability Employment Awareness Month, a time to recognize the incredible contributions people with disabilities make in the workplace and in our communities. At Arc, Fayette we witness every day how the individuals we support bring dedication, skill, and pride to their jobs, showing the true value of inclusive employment. This month isn’t just about awareness, it’s about celebrating the talents of individuals who enrich our workforce and reminding us all that inclusion makes us stronger.

That impact is best told through the individuals themselves.

  • Khalil has been part of the Burger King team in Belle Vernon for nearly 9 years as a dining room attendant. He loves working alongside his coworkers and cherishes the friendships he has built. At the end of each shift, Khalil feels proud knowing he completed all his tasks for the day!
  • Brian has been a part of the Arc Fayette Supported Employment program since 2016! He currently works 3 days a week at Uniontown Dairy Queen and has been employed there for 2 years. He feels proud to be at work!
  • Evan has been proudly working at Panera in Uniontown for 2 years! His favorite part of the job? Filling the bubblers with iced tea and lemonade. He also enjoys making coffee for the customers, and getting the opportunity to talk to the guests.
  • Tiffany has been working in the bakery department since 2021, and she has gotten very skilled at rolling pepperoni rolls and setting cookies.
  • David has been employed through Coverall Cleaning since 2022. David enjoys spending time with his brother, and hanging out at his day program through the week, and of course- working!

These stories remind us that inclusive employment offers connection, and belonging making our entire community stronger.
